- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Spread the uncooked long-grain rice evenly across the bottom.
- Layer the cooked ground beef over the rice evenly.
- Pour the French onion soup and beef consommé over the beef and rice.
- Dot the top with small pats of unsalted butter.
- Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 60-75 minutes or until the rice is tender.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to brown the top.
- Let it sit for a few minutes, fluff the rice gently with a fork, and garnish with parsley if desired.
