  • 1 package Gnocchi Store-bought or homemade
For the Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Butter For making the roux

  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil For seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano For seasoning
For the Cheesy Goodness
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese Freshly grated
  • 1 cup Fontal cheese Or Gruyere/Gouda
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme For garnish

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook the gnocchi in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes until they float, then drain.
  3. In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and whisk in 4 tablespoons of flour to make a roux.
  4. Gradually add 2 cups of milk, whisking continuously for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in salt, basil, oregano, half of the Parmesan, and all of the Fontal until melted.
  6. Fold the cooked gnocchi into the sauce until well-coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve warm.
