  • 2 cups Milk 2% or whole
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 1 tablespoon Dried Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
For the Cheeses
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
  • 1 cup Fontal Cheese or Gruyere, Provolone, or Gouda
For the Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Thyme for garnish

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook the gnocchi in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes until they float, then drain.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and whisk in 1/4 cup of flour to make a roux.
  4. Gradually add 2 cups of milk while whisking, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt, basil, and oregano, then stir in half of the Parmesan and all of the Fontal cheese.
  6. Fold the cooked gnocchi into the sauce, ensuring they are well-coated.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with remaining Parmesan and fresh thyme.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
