  • 6 large Large Eggs
  • 1.5 cups Milk
  • 0.5 cups Half & Half
  • 8 tablespoons Sugar prefer organic raw sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon divided
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

  • Cooking Spray or Butter for greasing
  • Powdered Sugar optional garnish
  • Maple Syrup optional garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or melted butter.
  2. Cut the crusty French bread into 1-inch cubes and arrange them on a baking sheet. Toast fresh bread cubes in the oven for 10-15 minutes until slightly dried.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, half & half, 6 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  4. Gently add the bread cubes into the custard mixture, tossing until coated. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, sprinkle over the bread cubes, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  6. Remove from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
