Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Warm the whole milk until 110°F, stir in granulated sugar and sprinkle yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Whisk together bread flour and salt in a bowl, make a well, add yeast mixture, butter and eggs, mix until shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Deflate the risen dough, roll into a rectangle, scatter chocolate chips, fold and shape into a loaf.
  6. Place loaf seam side down in a greased pan, cover and let it rise for 45 minutes until above the rim.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F, whisk egg yolk and milk for egg wash, brush over the loaf.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; check for doneness by tapping the bottom.
  9. Cool bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
