  • 1 lb Ground Turkey or substitute with ground chicken
  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic use fresh cloves for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger grated; ground ginger can be used in a pinch
  • 3 tbsp Chopped Green Onions regular onions can substitute
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs use gluten-free if necessary
  • 1 large Egg omit for a vegan option
  • 1 tbsp Fish Sauce soy sauce or tamari can be used for vegetarian option
  • 1 tbsp Lime Zest juice from lime is also needed
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice lemon juice can substitute if needed
  • 1 tsp Chili Flakes adjust to your spice preference
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Cilantro Thai basil can be experimented with

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine ground turkey, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, and breadcrumbs. Add egg, fish sauce, lime zest and juice, chili flakes, and cilantro. Mix lightly to keep meatballs tender.
  2. Wet your hands slightly, grab portions of the mixture, and roll into 1 to 1.5-inch balls. Place them evenly spaced on a plate.
  3. Heat a couple of tablespoons of coconut or vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches, leaving space between them.
  4. Cook meatballs for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until evenly browned and cooked through. Internal temperature should be 165°F (74°C).
  5. Transfer cooked meatballs to a platter lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Garnish with extra chopped cilantro and green onions before serving.
