Ingredients

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Lean ground turkey A healthier protein source that keeps the meatballs tender.
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, grated Adds moisture and depth of flavor; can substitute with shallots.
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced Provides aromatic flavor; garlic powder works in a pinch.
  • 1 cup Whole wheat or regular panko breadcrumbs Binds the meat; gluten-free breadcrumbs can be used as a substitute.
  • 2 tbsp Minced flat-leaf parsley Adds freshness and color; cilantro or basil can be used instead.
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder Delivers mild heat; adjust quantity for your desired spice level.
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin Enhances the earthy flavor; optional but adds depth.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Adds sweetness and vibrant color; try smoked paprika for a twist.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for balancing flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper For additional heat; increase for a spicier version.
For the Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Honey Brings a delicious sweetness and stickiness; can substitute with maple syrup for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar Balances the sweetness with acidity; lemon juice is an alternative in a pinch.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • parchment paper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, grated onion, minced garlic, panko breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper. Gently mix until just combined.
  3. Scoop out portions of the turkey mixture and shape them into meatballs about 1 to 1½ inches in diameter. Place each meatball onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly apart.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey and apple cider vinegar until smooth to prepare the glaze.
  6. Once the meatballs have finished baking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl and pour the honey garlic sauce over them, tossing gently until each meatball is coated.
  7. Serve the Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs warm, either as a main dish or as appetizers.
