- Begin by seasoning the boneless skinless chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Coat each piece evenly and set aside.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth and marinara sauce. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the top and add optional ingredients if desired.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 4–6 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- About 15 minutes before serving, add the shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the chicken. Cover and continue cooking until the cheese melts.
- Carefully scoop out the dish and garnish with chopped fresh basil. Serve it over pasta, rice, or alongside steamed vegetables.
