Step-by-Step Instructions for Ground Beef Stroganoff
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onions. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Next, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and continue cooking for 4-5 minutes until they become golden brown and tender.
  3. Reduce the heat slightly and melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the skillet. Once melted, sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of flour and stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes until you form a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in 2 cups of beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps from forming. Turn the heat up to medium-high and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Lower the heat to medium and add in 1 cup of sour cream and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Stir gently until the mixture is well combined and creamy.
  6. Return the browned beef and onions to the skillet, mix it all together, and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the delicious Ground Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or your desired base. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or dill.
