Step-by-Step Instructions for Smoked Sausage Grilled Cheese
  1. Slice the smoked sausage into thin rounds, about ¼-inch thick. Place a skillet over medium heat and add the sausage, cooking for 3-4 minutes until browned. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Layer cheese on the unbuttered side and add the sautéed smoked sausage, then top with another slice of bread, buttered side outward.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes until golden-brown and cheese begins to melt. Press down with a spatula for even cooking.
  4. Flip the sandwich carefully and grill for another 3-4 minutes until both sides are crispy and cheese is melted. Remove and let it rest for a minute.
  5. Slice the sandwich in half, garnish with parsley or smoked paprika, and serve warm.
